Job Description Summary:
----------------------------

The Asset Integrity & R&D Specialist drives the technical lifetime strategy and integrity governance of Nadara’s renewable energy assets, combining structural/mechanical engineering expertise with advanced R&D, data science, and AI. The role ensures optimal structural reliability and value extraction across the fleet, develops next‑generation inspection and analytics frameworks, supports European R&D projects and academic collaboration, and embeds automation and AI into engineering and asset‑integrity processes.

The role acts as the technical anchor for fatigue, loads, materials (steel & composites), inspection methodologies, and lifetime extension, while contributing to the innovation and R&D portfolio.
Job Description:
--------------------

Key responsibilities and Authorities

  • Lead structural and mechanical integrity assessments across the fleet, including fatigue, loads, materials (steel and composites), and lifetime evaluations.
  • Define, maintain, and continuously improve integrity, inspection, and condition‑assessment methodologies in collaboration with Asset Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Develop, automate, and industrialise analytical workflows (FEA, loads, relative structural assessments), embedding AI and agentic automation where possible.
  • Implement AI‑driven inspection analytics, including automated processing of imagery, pattern recognition, and anomaly detection.
  • Build and maintain the single source of truth for asset integrity, ensuring integration with broader asset‑maintenance and operational datasets.
  • Coordinate technical lifetime management with PMO, Growth & Markets, and Maintenance to optimise long‑term fleet value.
  • Contribute to and co‑lead R&D projects, including European grants, academic collaborations, and supervision of PhD students.
  • Drive adoption of digital engineering tools, data‑centric workflows, and agentic AI systems to enhance decision‑making and reduce manual effort.

Technical and cross Competences

  • Strong background in structural or mechanical engineering, preferably in wind, offshore, or industrial assets.
  • Expertise in fatigue analysis, fracture mechanics, materials (steel & composites), and integrity management.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques (visual, NDT, drone imagery, SHM) and condition assessment.
  • Experience with FEA (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus), loads modelling, and structural modelling automation.
  • Familiarity with data science and AI/ML methods relevant to engineering analytics.
  • Experience integrating engineering workflows with digital platforms and data pipelines.
  • Advantage: experience in renewables (wind/solar storage), industrial assets, or offshore structures.
  • Hand-on mindset and strong self-learning character, high proactiveness and ownership.

Managerial skills and behaviours

  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, maintenance, innovation, and digital teams.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder‑alignment skills.
  • Analytical mindset with rigor, attention to detail, and scientific discipline.
  • Curiosity, experimentation mindset, and willingness to push technical boundaries.
  • Ability to manage R&D deliverables, academic partners, and technical governance.

Education and Qualifications

  • MSc in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mechanics, or a related domain. PhD in one of the domains not mandatory but highly regarded.
  • Experience in fatigue, loads, inspection analytics, structural integrity, or advanced materials (steel and composites).
  • Strong background in R&D, preferably with publications or applied research outputs.
  • Familiarity with data science or AI (formal training or relevant project experience).
  • Experience with European R&D grants and/or supervision of PhD students is a strong plus.
  • 3–8 years of combined industry/academic experience (flexible depending on seniority level).

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel to sites, test facilities, universities, and research consortium meetings.
  • Hybrid work model applicable across Nadara locations.
