There is an open call for six (6) Research Scholarship (“Bolsa de Investigação”) at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project ALBATROZ - AP. Admission Requirements:

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or closely related fields, with a solid background in radio communication systems, antennas, and propagation. Practical experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g. CST, HFSS), radio-frequency measurement experience, and programming skills (Python or MATLAB) will be considered an asset. Evidence of high motivation to carry out the proposed work plan and strong teamwork skills is required. Candidates from countries not belonging to the Community of Portuguese Language Countries must provide proof of Portuguese language proficiency at B1 level, both written and spoken, in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Candidates must have a final master’s degree grade equal to or higher than 14.

Work Objectives:

The objectives are focused on delivering innovative solutions for the project, namely: research and design of radiating systems for All-in-One gNodeB units; study and prototyping of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RIS) for radio coverage optimisation; and the development of Smart Radio Environment (SRE) solutions, focusing on AI-assisted high-precision positioning via radio mapping, contributing directly to the technical deliverables planned for the project.

Place of work:

The work will be carried out at the premises of the Institute of Telecommunications – Leiria Delegation, under the supervision of Professor Rafael Ferreira da Silva Caldeirinha

Duration:

12 months, with the possibility of renewal. This type of grant has a maximum duration of four years.

Monthly salary:

1.359,64 € according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp- content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2026.pdf).
