BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Commodity Buyer (M/F/D) at our production plant in Viana, Portugal.Key Accountabilities:Commodity Sourcing Strategy Development:* Define and implement sourcing strategies for assigned commodities that align with organizational goals and objectives.
* Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in the commodity landscape.
* Develop long-term strategies for securing reliable, cost-effective, and high-quality sources of supply.
* Establish and manage a clear procurement plan for each commodity, ensuring alignment with production and project needs.
* Define supplier pool and source according to program budget and milestones;
* Commodity management according to business requirements (annual review).

Supply Pool Management:* Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers that align with the company’s strategic objectives and ensure supply reliability, quality, and competitive pricing.
* Build and maintain a strong network of qualified suppliers and partners for the assigned commodities.
* Monitor supplier performance, capacity, and market conditions to ensure a stable and flexible supply pool that can respond to business needs.
* Collaborate with suppliers to understand their capabilities, limitations, and opportunities for long-term partnership.

Supplier Negotiations:* Lead supplier negotiations to secure favorable terms for pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
* Establish and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring all agreements align with organizational objectives and compliance standards.
* Negotiate volume discounts, payment terms, and other conditions to achieve cost savings while ensuring supply continuity.
* Monitor and enforce contract terms and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing.

Cost Management \& Optimization:* Continuously assess the total cost of ownership for commodities, identifying opportunities for cost reduction or optimization.
* Analyze and benchmark commodity pricing to ensure competitiveness and cost efficiency.
* Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and strategies, ensuring they do not compromise quality or supply reliability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:* Work closely with internal teams, including production, logistics, and engineering, to understand and anticipate future demand for commodities.
* Align commodity sourcing strategies with the overall supply chain and business objectives.
* Provide timely updates and recommendations on commodity trends, supplier performance, and any supply chain risks.

Market \& Trend Analysis:* Continuously monitor global and local market conditions, commodity price fluctuations, and industry developments.
* Stay informed of regulatory changes, sustainability trends, and emerging technologies that may affect commodity sourcing.
* Use insights from market analysis to adjust sourcing strategies and mitigate risks associated with supply chain disruptions or price volatility.

Risk Management \& Problem Solving:* Identify and mitigate risks related to supply shortages, price volatility, or geopolitical factors that could impact the commodity supply.
* Proactively address and resolve any issues related to supplier performance, delivery delays, or quality concerns.
* Develop contingency plans to address potential supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity.
* Develop a culture characterized by good professional ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all áreas;
* Comply with environmental, health and safety, quality and productivity standards;
* Comply with the organization's rules and internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice and working period;
* Respect workplace safety and cleanliness rules;
* Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which they were hired, when the needs or convenience of service so warrant, for the period of time necessary for the aforementioned needs or convenience of service.

Education \& Experience* Bachelor's degree in Management, Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
* Experience with global commodity sourcing and an understanding of international supply chain operations.
* Knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices and strategies.
* Strong financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and cost-saving initiatives effectively.
* Familiarity with risk management strategies and sustainability in procurement.
* Proven experience (2\+ years) in procurement or commodity management, with a strong understanding of commodity markets and supply chain dynamics.
* Experience in supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends, price fluctuations, and supplier performance.
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and procurement software or ERP systems.
* Fluent in English.
