Junior Tax Analyst
Location: Carnaxide, Lisbon, Portugal
Employment Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
About the role:
Here at STG we are searching for a talented and experienced Junior Tax Analyst, who will be responsible for executing all day-to-day tax activities as per the tax checklist. This role involves performing all tax calculations, preparing returns and declarations, and filing with tax authorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns (VAT, Intrastat, Sales & Use Tax, etc.) across relevant entities.
- Assist in gathering, reconciling, and validating tax data extracted from ERP system (SAP) to ensure accurate tax reporting.
- Perform basic tax accounting tasks, including reconciliations of tax accounts and preparation of supporting schedules.
- Help monitor tax compliance calendars to ensure all filings and payments are completed on time.
- Support the resolution of discrepancies identified in tax reviews, coordinating with Finance, AP, AR, and other internal stakeholders.
- Assist in responding to tax authority inquiries by preparing documentation and pulling required evidence.
- Conduct preliminary research on tax rules, rates, and legislation changes using internal knowledge bases or external regulatory updates.
- Maintain clear, organized documentation for audit readiness, including archiving of tax filings, working papers, and payment proofs.
- Support internal controls execution related to tax processes, ensuring tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tax processes, including automation opportunities and SAP optimization.
Expectations with the support of the Tax supervisor:
- Collaborate closely with senior tax analysts and tax supervisor to ensure smooth execution of monthly and quarterly compliance cycles.
- Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams (Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Quote to Cash, Treasury) to resolve tax‑related issues.
- Escalate critical issues, delays, or risks to the Tax Lead or Senior Analyst in a timely manner.
- Support onboarding activities for new team members by sharing documentation and demonstrating agreed procedures when needed.
Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives within the Tax / Finance organization.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience 1-2 years in tax compliance, planning, and operations with VAT experience
- Understanding of local and international tax laws, especially in the European Union
- Familiarity with tax software; experience with SAP is an advantage.
- Optional but sought after: tax experience in Denmark, Northern EU countries, and/or Italy
- Strong communication skills
- Education: BSc/BA (Hons) in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
