Job Summary: The Legal Counsel will provide comprehensive legal support across all departments of the group, ensuring compliance, managing legal risks, and supporting business operations in a dynamic hospitality environment (hotels, resorts, and restaurants).
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide legal advice across all departments, including operations, HR, finance, and commercial teams
* Ensure compliance with applicable national and international laws
* Manage and monitor disputes, claims, and legal proceedings
* Liaise with external legal advisors when required
* Develop strategies to mitigate legal and reputational risks
* Track and manage ongoing legal processes and deadlines
* Ensure timely handling of all legal obligations
* Maintain a legal diary, including key deadlines, renewals, and regulatory obligations
* Proactively notify stakeholders of critical dates
* Draft and review contracts (suppliers, partners, service providers, events)
* Maintain and update a centralized contract database
* Prepare and distribute internal legal reports
* Ensure clear communication of legal matters to relevant stakeholders
* Provide practical legal support to operational teams
* Assist in decision-making processes with legal impact
* Ensure compliance in day-to-day hospitality operation
Requirements:
* Degree in Law
* Qualified lawyer, registered with the Portuguese Bar Association
* Experience in litigation and commercial/contract law
* Knowledge of compliance frameworks, including General Data Protection Regulation
* Excellent diary management skills, including coordination across multiple time zones.
* Exceptional organisational and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English (additional languages advantageous).
* Strong problem-solving capability and sound judgement.
* Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
