Sys Admin (IIS/Windows Server SME)
Responsibilities
- Provide deep technical expertise on IIS during application migration from on‑prem/private cloud to Azure.
- Analyse and validate Azure Migrate assessment results, identifying false positives and hidden complexity.
- Diagnose migration and post‑migration issues: IIS application pools, identities, bitness (32/64‑bit), and recycling, HTTPS bindings, SNI, host headers, and certificates, Windows Authentication (NTLM/Kerberos) and authorization settings, File system access, NTFS permissions, and shared storage dependencies, IIS modules, URL Rewrite, ARR, and legacy configuration, Native dependencies, COM+/GAC usage, or OS‑level integrations.
- Work closely with Azure Cloud Engineers and QA Automation to resolve failures identified during automated testing.
- Define remediation patterns and best practices that can be reused across multiple applications.
- Contribute to migration runbooks, known‑issues documentation, and escalation procedures.
Skills
- Degree in Computer Science or in similar areas.
- 5+ years of experience in similar roles.
- Strong hands‑on experience administering IIS in production environments.
- Solid Windows Server administration background.
- Deep understanding of IIS configuration, authentication models, and application runtime behaviour.
- Ability to rapidly diagnose complex, cross‑layer issues (application, OS, IIS, infrastructure).
- Comfortable working in migration or transformation programmes.
- Fluent in English - written and spoken (mandatory).
Nice to Have
- Degree in Computer Science or in similar areas.
- Experience migrating IIS‑hosted web applications between environments (on‑prem cloud or data centre data centre).
- Exposure to Azure App Service or IIS on Azure Virtual Machines.
- Familiarity with Azure Migrate assessments.
- Experience supporting legacy or heavily customised IIS environments.
